Easy Fall Off the Bone Oven Baked Pork Spare Ribs "So Delicious"
  • Prep Time:
  • Cook Time:
  • Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • (2-2 1/2lbs) Pork Spare Ribs
  • (1 tbl) Olive oil
  • (1/4 cup) finely diced onion
  • (1/2 cup) ketchup
  • (1 tbl) hot chili sauce like Sriracha
  • (2 tbl) light brown sugar
  • (1 tbl) apple cider vinegar
  • Salt and ground pepper, to taste
  • (1/2 tsp) cumin

Directions

Directions

  • Bake the Ribs
  • 1. Preheat the oven to 275°F (135°C). Set aside a large roasting pan or rimmed baking sheet and foil.

2 . If your ribs still have the thin membrane covering the back of the rack, remove it.

    3. Season both sides of the ribs generously with salt and pepper. If you are using a spice rub, rub it over the ribs.

    4. Place the ribs, meatiest side up, in a large roasting pan. You may need to cut the ribs in half to fit them into the pan. Cover the pan or baking sheet tightly with aluminum foil. It is important that they are well sealed inside the foil. If your foil does not wrap around your baking sheet, wrap the rack in tight foil packets and place them on the baking sheet.

    5. Bake the ribs until the meat falls easily from the bones, 2 ½ to 3 ½ hours. Check the ribs after 2 hours to see how they’re doing. Ribs are ready to come out of the oven when the meat is cooked through and tender. To check, pierce them with a sharp knife. There should be little to no resistance.  If the meat looks like it will easily pull away from the bone, they’re ready.

  • Make Homemade BBQ Sauce
  • 1. While the ribs bake in the oven, make the barbecue sauce. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until soft and translucent, 5 to 8 minutes.

    2. Stir in the cumin and cook for an additional 30 seconds.

    3. Add the ketchup, hot chili sauce, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Stir to combine, season with salt, then cook for 2 minutes. Set aside while the ribs finish baking.

  • To Finish
  • Remove the ribs from the oven, discard the aluminum foil, and generously brush both sides with barbecue sauce.

    Enjoy!
